Terms of Service

SweetMargins is a recipe costing, order tracking, and invoicing tool aimed at home bakers and small food businesses. Features include a recipe cost calculator, margin-based pricing suggestions, order and invoice management, ingredient tracking, and an optional AI-assisted receipt import tool.

You need an account to use the Service. Account authentication is handled by our identity provider, Clerk. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service.

SweetMargins offers a free plan and a paid "Pro" plan billed on a recurring basis. Paid subscriptions are processed by our payment provider, LemonSqueezy, acting as our merchant of record. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your chosen payment method until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we don't provide refunds for partial periods except where required by law or stated otherwise at the time of purchase. We may change plan pricing or features going forward, with notice for existing subscribers.

You retain ownership of the recipes, ingredient data, order and customer information, receipt images, and other content you enter into the Service ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service for you.

You're responsible for Your Content, including having the right to enter any customer or third-party information (such as your own customers' names or delivery details) that you add to the Service.

The optional ingredient import feature uses a third-party AI model (Google Gemini, accessed via Vercel's AI Gateway) to read receipts you upload and suggest ingredient entries. AI output can be incomplete or inaccurate — you're responsible for reviewing and correcting anything it adds before relying on it, particularly for pricing, units, or allergy-related information.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything unlawful or fraudulent;
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data;
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure;
• Upload content that infringes someone else's rights or violates their privacy.

The Service relies on third-party providers to operate, including Clerk (authentication), a hosted PostgreSQL database, Vercel (hosting and file storage), Google Gemini via Vercel's AI Gateway (AI ingredient import), LemonSqueezy (billing), and Google Analytics (usage analytics). Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' own terms where applicable.

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Cost calculations, pricing suggestions, and AI-generated content are provided for convenience — we don't guarantee their accuracy, and you're responsible for verifying figures before relying on them for business decisions, including pricing, taxes, or allergen disclosures to your customers.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service, with reasonable notice where practical.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mauritius, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mauritius.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
